Weekly class (Tues evening) – The Bhuti Slow Flow and Restore is a flowing (yang) sequence of movements, in which the Asanas (postures) and Breath (prana/chi/energy) are co-ordinated and inter-connected. In a vinyasa Krama, flow class, some of the asanas may be held for several breath cycles to encourage mindfulness, enhance the posture and integrate not only our physical body but also our hearts and minds. Classical and modern yoga asanas are taught, along with variations and modifications. In each class, we will practice being present and mindful. The practice will help cultivate and increase strength, flexibility and strengthen the core/hara centre and resilience of the mind, body and spirit. The practice is a moving meditation and includes a softer (yin) restorative postures towards the end of the practice working with your subtle energy and finishes with savasana (relaxation) to calm your nervous system.
During the class your body will naturally become warm, the heat helps opens and detoxes our body as we flow. Each month will be a different theme and focus always working mindfully with the ‘five elements’ and the seasons of the year. We finish with a slower more restful restorative/yin postures and relaxation. The room is not heated to a specific temperature but will be warm and you will get warmer as your own inner body agni creates heat.
If you like a challenge and want to be challenged mentally and physically if you want to increase your strength, flexibility, balance and advance your practice, this is the class for you. Includes asanas (postures), Pranayama (breathing) practices and relaxation. Some experience of yoga preferred but as in all classes, modifications are given and yoga is about listening to your body and not about being competitive and as I say to all my students, it is your practice, I am there to guide you. You will also have fun in this class, this is how we learn and laughter is known to reduce stress levels 🙂
