Suitable for baby’s from 12 weeks+ baby yoga develops the use of gentle movement incorporated throughout the baby massage sessions and can be provided as a progression from the baby massage course or as a stand-alone course.
The benefits of baby yoga are similar to those produced through baby massage and include;
Strengthening of the physical body
Develops practice to improve digestion and relief for colicky babies
Balance and harmony of the body systems
Helps babies to move from reflex to volunatry movements
Furthers stimulation of all of the senses
Helps to settle babies and improve sleep patterns
Continues the development of communication between baby and mother/parent
Continuing development of the brain and nervous system and a celebration of each babies individuality!
It incorporates yoga based movement for both baby (developing from reflex to voluntary movement) and mother (aiding postnatal recovery), as well as integrating some of the massage techniques introduced throughout the baby massage course.
Relaxation for both mother and baby is an integral part of both baby massage and baby yoga – adapting relaxation methods that mothers/parents can utilise with baby on board. There are numerous benefits to relaxation but ultimately it reduces stress and tension, whilst promoting a sense of wellbeing and happiness.
